Manuel Hermia has been exploring Rajazz for around twenty years. What exactly is it? It is an original system for organizing notes, straddling modal and tonal music. A research grant from FRart (Artistic Research Fund under the FNRS) enabled him to further his musical research in relation to mathematics and geometry from October 2023 to October 2025. This resulted in a whole series of works, written by himself and others.

One of the distinctive features of rajazz is that, as a musical theory, it imposes a number of constraints on composers or improvisers who wish to use it. However, it does not imply any particular style and leaves the structure of the works entirely open. The field of exploration is therefore very broad.

The Rajazz series will focus exclusively on works based on rajazz, across a wide variety of

To be released in 2026.

Then, a digital series called RAJAZZ SERIES will be released in autumn 2026. This time, the use of the Rajazz theory in its various forms will serve as the common thread, spanning a wide range of styles and instruments.
